NATCO has a history of 50 years and a larger potential; it offers affordable services in cargo and passenger domains that can sustain longer for GBians and tourists alike. Our efficient team is capable of learning by doing.

With the trust of the indigenous community, NATCO has earned high value and the same is being capitalized upon. For tourists, we offer the cultural colors and hospitality in service.

Caring for environment and transition with technology enable us to adapt international best practices. We're proudly carrying on passenger operations to Kashgar, PR China as our first international venture.

Our recent participation in Pakistan Travel Mart and ITB Berlin is already adding to NATCO fame and tourism game.

Let the efforts grow...

NATCO Vision

The Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) was established in 1974 and has underwent lot of transition in last 50 years. General policies of the organization flow from the Government; yet it adapts a great deal from travel market. Our management envision NATCO as the best passenger transport company not only in the Northern Areas, but all over Pakistan, linking the big cities of Pakistan with Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kohistan though comfortable passenger coaches. Adding technology to our operations, we aim to offer similar travel opportunities to domestic and international tourists around Gilgit-Baltistan. Similarly, we learn from international best practices and strive to achieve environmental balance, excel in hospitality and compete with private sector serviceĀ providers.

NATCO Mission

The mission is to run NATCO partially as a social organization providing transport services to the poor people living in the far-flung area and partially on commercial consideration. The improvement of highways and roads to rural areas adds to the need for better transport services every year. Since private transporters play a limited role in this regard, reliance on NATCO will keep increasing in future.

Private transporters in Gilgit-Baltistan are either non sustainable or charging exorbitant rates from the people, especially students living in difficult terrain. Therefore NATCO is constrained to operate on otherwise uneconomical routes. Public private partnership and/or joint venture seem to be a futuristic option to operate NATCO on modern, sustainable lines.

Cargo/freight services for carriage of subsidized wheat is another important function where 135 trucks of NATCO are engaged round the year.

NATCO as a state owned transport corporation will develop one of the best Passenger and Cargo services equiped with comfortable buses and with containers and specialized trucks.

NATCO operates an auto workshop and six fuel stations on the highway to keep their fleet fit and functioning. Our mission is to earn from these facilities and keep travel cost for passengers at an affordable level.

Human Resource of NATCO is being developed along professional lines; it's a challenge we take on regular basis. Induction of fresh HR and training of existing staff is essential to operate NATCO onĀ modernĀ lines.
